Dear Faculty and Staff,
I am pleased to announce that Mr. Dale Watanabe, International Student Advisor, has been appointed as the Interim Director of the International Student Center. Mr. Watanabe will transition into this role effective immediately and the University will launch a national search later this academic year to select the next Director of the International Student Center who will assume this key leadership role in July 2010.
Mr. Watanabe has served as the International Student Advisor since 2001 and is a graduate of the University of Washington; holding a degree in Asian American and International Studies. He has served as an Instructor at Edmonds Community College and an Assistant Language Teacher in Hyogo, Japan and is deeply involved in the community.
He serves as Vice-Chair of the Friends of Minidoka National Historic Site Board and is a recruiter for the Japanese Exchange and Teaching Program. I look forward to working with Mr. Watanabe in his role as the Interim Director and have the utmost confidence that he will provide stability and the commitment to building upon the legacy left by Dr. Faizi Ghodsi; former Director of the International Student Center. Please join me in welcoming Mr. Watanabe to his new role.
Sincerely,
Jacob L. Diaz, Ed. D.
